“Missions to complete for today are all related to hearing!” “That’s what a person with hearing loss feels!” New Deantronics company teamed up with CHF to organize the “Discovering sounds” summer camp for all the children of the employees. Not only to enhance the bonds of the employees but also to enable employees to participate in charities. Children began the day by learning knowledge about ears and sounds, gradually became the pioneers for maintaining hearing health and able to share the importance of understanding those with hearing loss.
12 children of the company’s employees became sound explorers and followed camp counselors to the park. They looked for different kinds of sounds and measured the decibel of the sounds that they heard.

Put on earplugs to experience hearing loss
The second task was to learn “hearing loss”. The purpose of this mission is to help children to have better understanding of hearing loss. It is possible for every child to have hard of hearing classmates. Once they learn more about hearing loss, they will be able to be empathize with those with hearing loss and help them.
After children put on earplugs, they were asked to listen to their counselors who covered their mouths while giving instructions. “It was uncomfortable having earplugs.” “It feels terrible not able to hear well.” Gradually, children started to understand the difficulties of those with hearing loss.
It is difficult to hear clearly when putting on earplugs, and this is what it feels as a person with hearing loss.
A quality communication begins with listening to others
“My friends never paid attention when I’m talking.” “I feel left out.” Paying more attention when we communicate with others helps us to have more delightful chatting experiences.
Children teamed up to play “Mystic Mountains Adventure” board game. They cannot see the cards they are holding and have to rely on the hints from their peers to decide how to precede. Once they learn to pay attention to their peers, the tasks were completed smoothly.
The pioneers for maintaining hearing health
At the end of the day, each team presented their creative posters to show what they have learned. “Discovering sounds” summer camp finally had a perfect ending.
CHF looks forward to having more partners passionately transform their love into practical action and join CHF in helping children with hearing loss.
