Alana Nichols is the youngest daughter of Joanna Nichols and Kenny Cheng, founders of the Children’s Hearing Foundation (CHF). Born with a common cavity malformation in both ears which resulted in profound hearing loss, Alana underwent an experimental cochlea implant surgery in Australia at the age of two and half. Through intensive childhood verbal therapy at CHF, Alana was able to learn how to listen and speak.
Alana is now the host of a travel show, Follow Alana, and aspires to use film making as a powerful tool to impact positive change in the world. When she is not filming, Alana is an active advocate for ear and hearing care. Setting herself as an example, Alana encourages and reminds those who are deaf or hard of hearing to embrace who they are to the fullest and never give up.
